Project Life: Week Four

This weeks project life spread happened to be the last week of school holidays and included the Australia day public holiday.
Can you believe we are almost already in March! It goes by so so quickly! The project life app is really really keeping me going. Though I am still undecided about how I am going to print them mostly because I could see myself adding embellishments to these pages, they are a little bare for my liking but if I print them as individual pages I could totally embellish them. If I print them as a book I think I would want to leave them as they are.
Seriously, those two boys jumping in the rain, I must remind myself to do something playful and fun today!

Project Life: Week Three

I'm Back with week three of my project life using the app.
Oh this week was so much fun! Blake, my eldest son turned 11 (gasp!!) and all he wanted to do was see the latest Star Wars movie and play in my brothers pool with his cousins. My gorgeous nieces were doing lots of amazing tricks into the pool and I managed to capture some of them on video!
I am loving that I can just add some photos and some simple journalling and filler cards in the app to finish a page so quickly! I'm not feeling like I am missing the paper aspect of it yet because I am still scrapbooking and playing in my travellers notebook. I definitely don't have that horrible 'I'm behind' feeling that I used to always have. And the few times that I have had that feeling it is remedied in five minutes, because that is how long it takes to catch up. If I wasn't scrapbooking I would probably want to stay doing project life in physical form because I just love paper but that really is not bothering me at all. This is purely about keeping our memories.
So far this is turning out to be an awesome solution for me!

Project Life: Week Two

So far I am really enjoying doing my project life in the app and it is definitely so much easier to keep up with memory keeping! Getting up here on the blog is another issue all together lol!
My biggest issue is remembering to take photos during the week, some weeks have ben severely lacking since the start of the year. I was taking so many pictures towards the end of the year I guess that I have fallen off of the bandwagon!
My journalling isn't perfect but I'm not so worried about it- don't let perfect be the enemy of good, right?! I have been thinking about weather to just get these printed as seperate pages, I feel like they are a little lacking as far as i would normally embellish- I was kind of thinking I could add embellishments to printed pages but probably couldn't if I get them printed in a book. I'm still undecided!

Project life: Week One

Since deciding to do my project life album this year digitally through the app I am already feeling much better about keeping up with it, it is so super fast. The only downside to using the app is that you can't embellish! But I think that it will work out ok because I will be able to use up my stash and crafty stuff in different ways in my scrapbooking and travellers notebooks
I love that I can do it any where any time on my phone. I feel like this is going to make it a project that is so doable to complete!
I am yet to complete my 2016 album, I think I abandoned it somewhere between July and September but I was creating an album that had a combination of project life and scrap pages and I continued to scrap longer than that, I think. I guess that I need to go back and complete what ever I haven't done!
I have decided that I am going to get my project life printed in book form this year, I'm not sure weather it is better to get it printed at the halfway mark or weather to just wait till the end to get it printed, Im not exactly sure how many pages will fit in a book!?
Have you started your project life for 2017 or are you still completing last years. If you are starting or have started this years, do you have a plan?

Project Lifeing

I recently started using the project life app that I've had sitting on my phone for months. After meeting Becky I was super inspired to just make it simple again. I so often over complicate scrapbooking but really my goal is just to keep memories and all that really takes is pictures and words.
I'd like to think that I could create albums that have both physical project life pages, digital project life pages and traditional scrapbook pages. And to just go with what works for me at the time, not get hung up on it but keep the focus on documenting memories and less on feeling like I should do things one way or another.
The truth is that I LOVE it all. I love being able play with different ways of doing things. sometimes I love being more creative and sometimes I just wanna get it done. Both ways are great!
These last two I've put into a book of our holiday last year in Queensland,My mother and hubby both took photos and then shared them with me and I was able to use photos from the three of us! I loved that I was able to get so many photos into one book using the app.

Project Life

Can you believe we are almost half way through February! AHHHH! Since school went back the days have flown by! My biggest crafty goal right now is to get more organised for these school days, I spend 3 hours in the car everyday doing the school run and there is 40 minutes either end that I could be crafting in. My biggest problem is that I've been a little wishy washy on what I've been taking with me. Its time to set up some grab and go kits with more specific crafty things to work on. Anyway I'm still plugging away at project life 2015 and I'm simplifying as much as I can.
Photos + Words, then adding just a little embellishment, if I feel like it ;)
I'm all the way back finishing February and March! EEEKK! oh well I will keep going! Somewhere along the way I want to be on top of this years pages- I don't want to get this behind again!
I just love going through the photos and looking back on just how much we did throughout the year- it always astounds me because I know that many of the things that we do are not even photographed! I forget so many times because I am just happy and living in the moment, I have to keep reminding myself to take photos!
I love to have bits of my ordinary days throughout the album- so much of my life is all about the small things, like tea with friends and happy spots at home. It makes me happy to have that stuff documented too.
Although this album is a project life album and I do have it organised month by month I am not super particular about doing it week by week, really I just printout the photos for that month and then just work out what goes with what. I am more about the memories than about the timeline, I just don't think that I am going to look back and worry about exactly what order things are in.

I also really love adding in scrapbook pages that I made throughout the year, I love having a full page then a project life page and this is also one of the ways that I simplify things. If I am feeling in the mood to create a full scrapbook page I just go with it, I like how it adds something different to the album.
I've been doing a lot of this scraping whilst watching Gilmore Girls and drinking tea. Although I am behind still and I am groaning (just a little) about having to catch up, this is still one of my favorite ways to document our lives. My boys love to look through these albums and that in itself makes it totally worth a little grumbling!

More Cards

One of the simplest ways to make a quick card it to use 3x4 project life cards. They have some awesome designs and they can be easily added to. Often the card that I make someone as I am walking out the door is a project life card simply stuck onto some plain card stock. since I had a little bit of time I added just a little something to each card. For the base I've used a pack of cards that I bought at spotlight, they are american craft cards that simply have a cute pattern on the front- ready for you to do whatever you would like to do with them. All of these project life cards are from the Heidi Swapp September skies range.
 >>added a simple stamp
 >> This YAY word sticker is from freckled fawn
 >>Puffy stickers, lace and a stamp
 >>enamel dots
 >> small tab and a little sentiment
>> Stamp and some lace.
Now my little card pile is growing, YAY!!

She Scraps- Catching up

I've been getting back int to the scrapbooking grove, something about the new year does that to me. I love having a fresh start to things, a new album and new hopes for completing a new album, even though I'm not yet finished the last album!
I just had to scrap this photo we took on Christmas day, we were all having such an awesome day! of course this one will be popped into my 2015 album so its good to be getting going with finishing it off because I have a bit to go.
I kept this next one kinda simple- In the hopes of just getting things done! Though I did paint those flowers and leaves.I always love it when I manage to get a handmade element on my pages.
There will be lots more catch up pages coming soon, I think last year I only made it to about March or April. I got a little caught up with making 180 ornaments and not much scrapping happened after that.
So right now I am enjoying a mix of catching up and starting fresh and I am totally ok with a mix of both.

She Scraps

I've been scrapping some of Blake's Birthday Photos from mid January. I had a lot of fun with water colour paints and some stamps.
I even managed to get some polka dot stamps on there. There is also quite a bit of machine stitching on this one too. I love that nothing is perfect on this page!
Love this little dude, he's such a crazy one! The candles on his cake were the kind that keep relighting and he thought they were magic at first. I don't think he even knew that candles like that even existed.
Anyway, on the opposite page in my album is a project life page with other photos from the day.
Oh they are growing up way too fast and I am a little behind still on this years album.
I will get there :-) !

Project Life: Our Holiday

I am so behind with project life, well at least I feel behind and that feeling was kind of making me feel stuck which was getting me absolutely nowhere! I have a large (huge!) pile of photos that are from December and Christmas, none from October and November and now none from January also no printer ink and just over 40 minutes to anywhere that can print them.
Of course I just wanted what I couldn't have and wanted to start back at October, where I finished off, yesterday I decided to just get on with it and get some of this pile into sleeves.
And magically my rut ended, haaa haa! I kept it super super simple I will probably go back and add a bit more to it, some stamping would be nice but for now I am happy that I got some of the pile into my album.
These photos are all from a small trip we made to Pt Augusta to my Uncle and Aunties Shack, I spent some lovely holidays there as a kid and had some really happy memories there so I was keen to show my three boys this relaxing place. Of course my boys loved it, they all love being in nature and fishing and messing about so they had an awesome time.
These photos are spread over two double page spread even though we were only there for three days I really didn't want to edit the photos down too much. So I just went with it, I think this is somewhere along the lines of how I will do project life this year. I want to be able to go for it with things that I love and just leave out the really boring bits, or weeks where I didn't take photos of anything interesting.
I also added in two smaller page protectors, so that I could add more photos in. This gave me the opportunity to add landscape and portrait photos in because I generally take photos both ways and sometimes this can be a little limiting with page protectors generally being all in one format.
Have yo started project life for this year, are you keeping it simple or really going for it?

Project Life Catch Up

I've had kind of a crazy day and a crazy weekend, we spent the weekend sailing and it really wasn't a great place to craft even though I took a few crafty options with me. Oh well I will be back into it very soon because I am dying ;-) Too much boy stuff and not enough crafting!!
So I am way behind on my project life pages, I finished my last few pages back in early October. Hopefully I can get some photos printed off soon and finish up last years album!
It was the week of Luke's birthday so I just went for it with pictures of him.
His birthday happened to be the week after a seizure so in a way it felt super fitting to be celebrating him and his birthday. Thank goodness we haven't had another since then but when it happens it really does make you feel thankful for every small detail and every loving person around us and reminds you to live in the moment!
So that is a little catch up of some of the last pages I managed to do last year. I've got some lovely crafty things lined up so I am hoping to get stuck into them so I can share them here really soon!

My Planner

I just purchased this Kikki.K planner after much searching around and finding nothing that was cute and practical, I ordered this one online and it finally arrived and after  a crazy run home in the rain with the box under my arm trying to protect it from getting wet it made it into my home.
Anyway I had been wanting a place to put all the things that I usually write down on scrap pieces of paper I end up with piles of paper around the place and never able to find the one list that I need. So I wasn't really wanting a calender style folder and I also wanted it to be small enough that I could take it with me in the car, we spend a lot of time in the car waiting and travelling to and from school during the year.
I wanted a place where I could: track my goals, put weekly menu plans and shopping lists, keep a weekly cleaning plan, Christmas and birthday panning and also write ideas for blog posts. Usually all of these things are done on random bits of paper.
So far I have managed to add a section for menu planning and have printed out some menu plans that I created, they're not perfect yet but they will do for now. I've got a few other things that I would like to print off like a shopping list and I would love some way to track my goals, to see that I am making progress (or not lol).
I've still got a  little to do to sort out all of the things I want to keep here and I am working out weather to keep the dividers and pages that are in here and just adjust them or to make new dividers and new pages that are more suitable.
I've added some kaiser kraft stickers into the pocket and some project life cards for now. I'm sure that I am going to make lots of adjustments to make the planner work for me but other than that I am super happy with this gold planner and I'm super excited to start filling it up.

Sunday Scraps

I've been playing with paper, just because I feel like it. I am totally loving the pink and gold colour combination at the moment, I had pink and gold one one of my Christmas trees this year and I really loved it, it was ohh so pretty.
Thus page has lots of embellishments from one of the Heidi Swapp project life kits (you can pick them up at spotlight), the background paper is a Dear Lizzy Serendipity and there are a couple of embellishments from that range too.
I cant help it I so much love scrapping girly photos, if only I had girls sigh....
I did love having my two little nieces over for Christmas this year. I always forget what its like to have girls here until they are here. My boys are getting more and more boyish as they get older and there are more and more boy activities going on here all the time.
Paul bought me a flutterbly ( a flying fairy) toy for fun for Christmas and the girls had a lovely time playing with it, so much fun.
I love to use things that I have around the place on my scrap pages, this one has tissue paper, paper straws, some note paper and a rectangular doily that I had around. Also some more Serendipity and  some embellishments from the Heidi Swapp Project Life glitter kit.
Its nice to be finally getting back into making something after the business of Christmas, I love the quietness of this time of year. Love that there are so many possibilities for creating.
